Next month (October 2009) will be our first Dust Collectors get together. Details will be posted on the website by October 1st to allow you plenty of time to pencil us into your busy schedules. Again, if you don't have anything to bring, no worries! You're still welcome. Bring a friend or two if you want to. We want everyone to join us and have fun! Hello New Collectors!

My name is Molly. I'm new to Las Vegas. I've been so busy taking care of life, that, I haven't taken time to really get to know others. I recently made a visit home to Idaho. While there, I had the opportunity to attend a girls night with my sister's and their good friends. They called the girls night, "Dust Collector's." I quickly learned what it was and how they did it. First, You pick a room in your house, go through it, and pull out everything that should be donated. This is done once a month. The items you pulled out for donation, you'll bring with you to Dust Collectors/girls night. (Unless, it's too large then you can just tell us about it and make arrangements with whom ever wants it directly). You take turns show casing the items you brought and then you auction them off to each other. While you're show casing/auctioning off your stuff, who ever (the rest of us at the girls night) first says "I want it!"...gets it! The items that are not taken and left over, are then donated to the DI or Goodwill etc. of their choice. The person who is hosting the activity that month is responsible for getting the left overs to any donation center of their choice. They also ( if they choose to) provide a simple / inexpensive snack or treat. Some times crackers and water... cookies and milk... or even more extravagant dishes. It's all up to the host. In many cities, if you notify them in advance, donation centers can schedule for free a truck to come to your home and pick up the left over items. This is such a fun way to organize, donate, and even receive things you want or need! It's great! It's FREE! Clothes, shoes, lotions, decorations, furniture, dishes, car seats, movies, strollers, yard art, food, books, kids toys, and so on......it's the best! My sister's usually come home with as much stuff as they took. However, it's stuff they need that won't sit and collect dust. My sister got tons of good kids clothes, shoes, and toys. She didn't need to take the kids school shopping. She even redecorated their entire Christmas stuff one year with items she received at Dust Collectors. They've been doing this girls night once a month for about 4 years. So, We're putting together a Dust Collectors group of our own, here in Vegas. Times are tough and it's so much better when you're not doing it alone! Please join in the fun and help us support each other. We want you to come. If you have nothing to bring... please bring yourself!
